This rustic private oasis getaway is the former private estate of the most famous New Orleans chef, Paul Prudhomme. The compound is surrounded by a private heated swimming pool,  jacuzzi, gym, game room and meditation garden. The property is also surrounded by wine grape vines, Apple, Orange, Peach, Pear, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin, Cumquat, Fig Fruit Trees and Herb and Berry gardens.  You will feel like you walked into the garden of Eden. 

Chef Prudhomme filmed his famous "farm to table" TV shows on the property where he gathered fresh herbs from his backyard and cooked up his New Orleans delicacies in his test kitchen where his recipes are now sold in over 50 countries around the world. Before Prudhomme, this historical compound was owned by the Walton Family of Walmart fame (the richest family in the world) and prior to the Waltons, owned by one of the founding fathers of Jazz Music, Papa Jack Laine.

Absolutely beautiful property, with some surprising history of its own. Will probably go back and stay again but only if I have enough people for the main house.

Great getaway
The compound is a short walk to the French Quarter near the French Market and a couple of blocks from Frenchmen street with great live music and restaurants.  The place its self had small rooms and common spaces, but the property has such great spaces to sit and visit with a bigger group you do not need the space in the house.  All the grand outdoor spaces are in little areas that allow you to get seclusion from any other groups outside on the grounds.  It is a great getaway in its own little oasis.

Probably the greatest AirBnb that I've stayed in so far. The house was way bigger than I thought it was going to be and looked just like the pictures.  The pool, hot tub and courtyard were amazing. Location was fantastic. We were minutes away from the French Quarter which was very handy. Definitely worth the money. Highest possible recommendation.

Beautiful place, the aesthetics were wonderful. The only thing i felt should have been advised was how steep the stairs were. I stayed in the pool house and found the stairs very questionable. No incidents but not very drunk friendly. Otherwise a wonderful stay. The grounds keeper was phenomenal, and just the vibes from this place was unlike any other. Id definitely book again.

We had a great stay! Actually had a ton of issues with another Airbnb on Miami Beach, and had to move out ASAP. Laurie accommodated an early check in and we were instantly at ease thanks to the beach views and ample space. Bathrooms were great, beds were great, and loved that there were beach supplies that we could use!

My friends and I had a fantastic time and were comfortable at The Chateau. Prior to our arrival, Michael was very responsive to questions. At the time of arrival, Wilson was extremely helpful and friendly. Other folks working at The Chateau were lovely and warm. It's a great location, allowing us to walk to almost every destination we hoped to visit. The outdoor space was so comfortable, and other guests were respectful. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I will definitely consider The Chateau for future visits to New Orleans!

The property is beautiful.  Heated pool/hot tub, plenty of outdoor seating.  Everyone was very friendly and helpful from the host Michael, to the staff on site.  The other great part.....The location is within walking distance to Bourbon Street!  We plan to book again next year when we are in town!

What a disaster... our thanksgiving was ruined.

I found Michael’s hotel and surroundings very comfortable, spotless and enjoyable. My family had beautiful good size rooms, larger than expected, and well ventilated. The rooms were efficient, spacious and clean with plenty of extra towels. The beds were extremely comfortable which was great after a long day of sight seeing. Quite possibly the best bed I have ever slept in!  The pillows and bedding were nice and soft too. The newly renovated bathrooms were very nice. We had a lovely view of the water. The pictures don’t do it justice. Communication with Michael was easy, he was very accommodative to our last minute special requests. I read some other reviews and honestly I am not even sure we stayed at the same place. My family had a fabulous stay. We recommend your wonderful boutique hotel and we will return without hesitation in the near future. Much appreciation to Michael keep doing what you are doing!

I recently booked this Airbnb, when I got there I had additional guests which the host requested more money for an additional $1300. Well the Airbnb was horrible, it was dirty and has bed bugs in the sheets and two of my guest got bit all over the face. Another guest couldn’t even attend because he is bond to a wheelchair  and they never mentioned they have so many stairs and that the elevator was broken, which by the way was full of trash that looked swept from whomever stayed there before. They agreed to refund me the additional $1300 but at the end of our stay he tried to blackmail me by saying, I can only get my refund if I give his home a 5 start review. I do not feel that I should be forced to give a 5 star review when I did not get a 5 star experience! I do however feel that he should keep his word and give me my money back being that his place is not clean or safe to stay in. With COVID cleaning should have been top priority!
The vents in the house are placed on the wall and not connected to any airway, so all of the rooms were hot! The ceiling in the house looked as if they would fall on your head at any minute. The pool that is apparently way across town was extremely dirty so we couldn’t even swim. The kitchen sink was stopped up the entire stay. There is only 1 chair in the whole house with no table whatsoever to eat on. All of the games in the gaming area were either dirty, broken or full of cobwebs with electrical wires running all over with a water leak in the ceiling. Sadly there are even more problems with this house but all I want is my money back because even if I give a 5 star review he doesn’t want to give it to me in writing that will guarantee my $1300 back. This has been going on long enough and I just want my money back!!!!

Things to expect when you stay here is that the sister location  that is described is across town, and there was only 1 chair to accommodate 12 guest, the overall  property is great for a large  group just need some work

Do not stay here! 40 minutes to the French Quarter, $50 Uber ride each way. Unsafe East New Orleans, we found out it had been broken into 4 times the week before and someone shot outside the week before that. Pizza Hut won’t even deliver there. Renovations are not finished, mildew on the ceiling, dirty floors, listing says no stairs but you have to climb 2 staircases to get in and the stair hand rails are PVC pipe and tape with sections missing. There are also cameras hidden in the living room ceiling. He never gave us the code for the door and didn’t respond to messages, a handyman finally showed up and let us in. He was there to fix a toilet and was unable to do it, another toilet wouldn’t flush so we had 9 women and one toilet. We ran to a hotel.

This place is very spacious. My groups was 14 people and we still had two queen size beds left over. The host and his staff are excellent and responds quickly to requests. The place is within in 9 minutes from the French Quarter. I love it and would stay every time I visited NOLA. I strongly recommend this location.
